This past weekend, I completed my CPR, AED, and First Aid Training with CPR Nashville. It was a great experience and a course that I would definitely recommend to others. All of their CPR classes train you to perform the skill on adults, children, and infants, which is fantastic!
My instructor, Vince, was extremely knowledgeable. He has been working in emergency services his entire career and has been teaching CPR through the American Heart Association for 9 years. He also had a really laid-back approach which helped us all to connect as a class, since we sometimes needed to work in teams. For many, it was their first time and he made everyone feel welcome in addition to showing us tips to perfect our skills. What I enjoyed most, was the amount of hands on time we had with the mannequins to practice and improve. This alone helped me to leave feeling 100% confident that I would know what to do in an emergency, how to perform CPR, and how to operate an AED machine effectively on all age groups. Are you a parent or care provider? You should take the Heartsaver CPR class. Are you a doula, midwife, student, or other medical professional? You should take the BLS (Basic Life Support) class. You can also bundle any class with the Basic First Aid for additional savings. That's what I did and knocked it out all on the same day. When you register, please mention my name (Staci Bishop). Their referral program helps me to fund future trainings and maintain my current certifications.

Good news! The Nashville area Empower Your Birth conference is back for 2016! This year's event will be held on Saturday, March 12th so mark your calendar! The conference schedule is already up and I'm so excited about the agenda. The morning is filled with classes to help you navigate pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. The afternoon is full of interactive classes including henna, massage, birth art, meditation circles, and more. There are workshops just for dads too! EYB does a wonderful job of presenting a variety of information for mamas birthing in Middle Tennessee no matter what type of birth you are planning. In fact, this year there is an entire track of courses dedicated to Cesarean Moms.
This event is So. Much. Fun. For starters, they give away a TON of door prizes. Like, thousands of dollars worth of baby gear! There's also a vendor hall where you can check out amazing items and meet local birth professionals. They will have food trucks available for lunch and you can stick around in the evening for a screening of More Business of Being Born. If you haven't seen this film yet, I'm telling ya, it's fantastic! I hope to see you on March 12th for this premiere event. You can learn more about the conference by visiting their website or Facebook page.
