This is my 6th year to compile these figures into an infographic (with the exception of 2020). Nashville is oh so close to having all hospitals under 30%. Overall, these facilities have continued their downward trend. After Centennial had an increase 2 years in a row (2018-2019), they showed quite a significant drop (11.2%) with this latest data. I suspect the new CEO of the Women's Hospital has something to do with this, and I'm pleased to see her impact reflected in the data in a positive way.
While this data can be helpful in choosing where to deliver, it's also important to research your provider as well. Your care provider and birth team can have a significant impact on your delivery. Research indicates that having a doula can lower your risk of a Cesarean birth by as much as 39%. Taking a comprehensive childbirth education class can improve outcomes too.
